Most of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is starting to show mid-stage foliage and is expected to enter peak-stage around the middle of next week. The Northeast Kingdom should only start to show late-stage colors around the 1st weekend of October and still have great autumn colors through at least the middle of October.
Higher elevations, especially ridge-lines, are starting to showing mid-stage color in the northern parts of the state. Look for reds, yellows, and oranges. In these northern areas, peak-stage colors may not start to appear until the 1st weekend of October. Late-stage autumn colors will probably appear around the middle of October and last through at least the 3rd or 4th weekend.
The central and southern portions of the state are just entering early-stage colors of mostly yellows and oranges. They should progress to mid-stage probably late next week or during that weekend. In these areas, peak colors most likely will not start to appear until the 2nd week of October. Many areas in the central and southern portions of the state should still show stunning autumn late-stage colors through the end of October.
